Great minds obviously think alike! It must be that desparate need to reward ourselves for getting all the grading done...

The D50 looks like a pretty nice camera, and I must say that the 8Mp that my new toy has provides quite a bit more detail than I really need most of the time. And man does it eat up the disk space :-).

I got a Canon in significant part because we already had a Canon lens in the house, so I totally understand why you choose the Nikon. I'm sure that if we'd had a bunch of (modern) Nikon glass in the house we would probably have gone that route. (We've got some very cool antique Nikon equipment my dad bought in Japan in the 50's, but that doesn't really count.)

Oh, man...I can't keep up with the McPhees. I just ordered a digital SLR for myself the other day (it hasn't arrived yet) -- I went for the Nikon D50, because I already had a Nikon 6006 35mm SLR and liked it. But it's 'only' a 6.1MP camera!
