Spring pretty, pretty Spring

Columbine, open and closed

Spring has come, and the flowers are blooming nicely… Above is columbine (Aquilegia canadensis), and below is a wild geranium (the little pink guy on the left - Geranium maculatum), and the red fellows on the right are prairie smoke - Geum triflorum). The vast majority of our garden plants came from the fine folks at Morning Sky Greenery, and these are no exception.

Prairie smoke and wild geranium

I like taking pictures of flowers - they usually move more slowly than animals or children playing baseball. The prairie winds make a mess of that theory on occassion, though…

I really should have set up the rain barrel

Posted in Gardening on April 10th, 2005

Yesterday WeatherGirl and I stood outside and talked about how nice and spring-like the weather had become. Plans were made for composting, and it was noted that I needed to set up the rain barrel again (it’s cold enough here that we have to put it away for the winter).

Did I then do this?

No.

Did it then rain last night?

Yes.

Could have easily filled it, too. And I could use the water for inside plants. Hmph.
