The Chronicles of Narnia
Slow. A faithful retelling of C.S. Lewis’, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Great for younger children but there’s not quite enough going on for anyone else. There were some great emotional moments, like the death scene (I didn’t think it suffered through lack of gore, unlike others) and Tilda Swinton is pitch perfect as the witch.
As for the whole Christian allegory issue, it’s a brouhaha in a teacup. I didn’t see it when I read the book as a child and I didn’t see very much of it as an adult. This fantasy world seems to be just that too me. Eye of the beholder seems the relevant tag.
