Grades are done; now I sleep

After two all-nighters (modulo a few short naps), my grades are all submitted and now I go to catch a few hours before a meeting at 3:30pm.

This is the price I pay for being spasmo on my grading during the semester, and then going to GPTP smack in the middle of finals week. Ugh.

Now you know why I’ve been ignoring you after that flurry of posting from Ann Arbor. I’m sure you’re thrilled.

  1. As one of those useless adminstrative types I didnt have to do grades. We got a 3 day breather and are now being overrun by hordes of geologists. I shall be working through the weekend and dont get to look up until next Th. Wheeeee……..

  2. In my experience “useless administrative types” certainly exist, but there are other administrative types that are truly essential to the running of the organization. If discerning taste in blogs is any indication… :-)

Why, pray tell, are you being overrun by hordes of geologists? I find them quite fascinating in small numbers, but hordes of academics of any description are often a worry.

  3. Technically it was the Goldschmidt Geochemist’s Conference with 2000 geologists attending for 6 days. An annual international event that we got to host partly because one of our resident geologists complained about the technology at a prior conference. We were put on the spot, and we delivered with flying colors, BTW. I watched several sessions and learned new and interesting things about the earth … at least when I was able to understand the lingo.

  4. That sounds like a lot of fun, actually, although I don’t envy you the pressure of having that many people count on your technology. Glad to hear that it went well, though.
