We made it!

No real internet yet (we’re in a library at the moment, where there are long queues), but we’re here, safe, and happy in the UK. I’ve now started the last Harry Potter book, so I must truly be on sabbatical :-).

More later, including iPods in vending machines and embarrassing photos of my wife and son on airplanes.

  1. Yay! I’m sorry I didn’t call before you left – but I’m glad you arrived safely.

  2. Hey, o; unhindered one,
Glad you are all safe and sound and making your way in Great Britain. Let Weathergirl know that because of her link to Athena’s blog, I found it and have been able to message with her a bit. That is very nice. Y’all don’t seem so quite far away when one can communicate so quickly and intimately.

Well, you missed the county fair but I imagine your arteries are better for it. I went for lunch there with Tracey Anderson. It’s our second year of doing so and thus a tradition is born. A steak sandwich, vanilla shake and fries later, I have also seen the amazing array of chicken breeds available in this fair county. Bunnies, too. Since there’s only time for one barn per lunch break, it could take us years to cover the fair from north to south. And that’s a lot of steak.

Take care, y’all. Did ya hear that Rove is history? No, he wasn’t stoned on the steps of the capitol. Just using the back door when nobody’s paying much attention. What will the Shrub do without a brain?

  3. Misty: No prob!

Oh, Mighty Goddess: I think that the mighty Intarweb is going to make a real difference to how connected we’ll be to you wonderful folks back home. Sub-Evil Boy’s been IMing with friends, and blogging, e-mail, etc., is all pretty darn cool. Our interent is still limited, but now that we’ve (hopefully) found a place to live, that should be sorted out in the next week or two.

Sorry we missed the fair – that food is always really fun. We’ve been to a chippy once for the classic fish and chips, but we’re trying to keep it cheap and at home until we have a better handle on exactly how tight things are going to be on part salary.

I figure Rove will continue to plot evil deeds, he’ll just get paid a crapload of moola to do it for some corporation, think tank, or consulting/lobbying firm instead. Until Shrub’s friends are all out of D.C. (and at some level that will never happen)…
