Actually, John Peel’s Festive Fifties weren’t limited to just tracks he’d played on his show. It was anything released during the previous year, including session or live tracks recorded for his show. I guess because of his status and listenership, many of the tracks that got in were by bands he’d played.

Same rules apply with our Dandelion Radio Festive Fifty, and Radio 1 decided they wanted us to carry on the legacy.
