WeatherGirl was plugging Pick of the week<\/em><\/a> on BBC’s Radio 4, and I can definitely second the motion. If you’ve not had much experience with the the incredible variety of programming on the Beeb’s many incarnations, this is an excellent short introduction, providing one person’s summary of the week’s highlights.<\/p>\n

One thing to be clear about is that it is not<\/em> the five most popular songs on Radio 1, and won’t typically have more than snippets of music here and there. It instead focusses on reporting, drama, and other “text” programs of a range and quality rarely found here in the U.S.<\/p>\n

In the spirit of full disclosure, I don’t listen to a lot of this sort of radio, BBC or not, mostly because I have too damn much music I want\/need to be listening to. That said, though, I’m always happily sucked in if I happen to be around when WeatherGirl has Pick of the week<\/em> running when I’m around.<\/p>\n
