{"id":151,"date":"2005-05-11T18:10:57","date_gmt":"2005-05-11T23:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/Phi\/archives\/2005\/05\/11\/reporting-live-from-ann-arbor\/"},"modified":"2005-05-11T21:25:05","modified_gmt":"2005-05-12T02:25:05","slug":"reporting-live-from-ann-arbor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/Phi\/archives\/2005\/05\/11\/reporting-live-from-ann-arbor\/","title":{"rendered":"Reporting live from Ann Arbor!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ellery and I have made it safely to Ann Arbor for this year&#8217;s GPTP (Genetic Programming in Theory and Practice) (reports on the <a href=\"http:\/\/cscs.umich.edu\/calendar\/conferences\/gptp2003\/\">2003<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/cscs.umich.edu\/calendar\/conferences\/gptp2004\/\">2004<\/a> workshops) hosted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/cscs.umich.edu\/\">Center for the Study of Complex Systems<\/a> (CSCS) at the University of Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>We present our paper on Friday morning, which means we get to spend much of tonight finishing and practicing our presentation.  It&#8217;ll be the first time I&#8217;ve <em>ever<\/em> used a computer\/projector presentation; so far I&#8217;ve been a complete luddite and used SliTeX transparencies.  We&#8217;re not using Evil Empire Software&#153;, however.  We&#8217;re using the <a href=\"http:\/\/latex-beamer.sourceforge.net\/\">Beamer classes<\/a> with <a href=\"http:\/\/tug.org\">LaTeX<\/a> :-).<\/p>\n<p>We ran into <a href=\"http:\/\/cswww.essex.ac.uk\/staff\/rpoli\/\">Riccardo<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nuclecu.unam.mx\/~nncp\/\">Chris<\/a> at the airport, which was cool.  I didn&#8217;t expect to see Chris since he&#8217;s mostly been a GA (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genetic_algorithms\">Genetic Algorithms<\/a>) person instead of a GP (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genetic_programming\">Genetic Programming<\/a>) person in the past, but it&#8217;s excellent that he&#8217;s here with Riccardo.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re going to go eat dinner now.  More later!
