{"id":194,"date":"2005-07-09T23:50:08","date_gmt":"2005-07-10T04:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/Phi\/archives\/2005\/07\/09\/white-hands-for-those-in-london\/"},"modified":"2005-07-11T15:29:32","modified_gmt":"2005-07-11T20:29:32","slug":"white-hands-for-those-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/Phi\/archives\/2005\/07\/09\/white-hands-for-those-in-london\/","title":{"rendered":"White hands for those in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nicmcphee\/24802316\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/photos21.flickr.com\/24802316_132952e43e_m.jpg?resize=240%2C180\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" alt=\"White hands in harebells\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"10\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>After the devastating Madrid bombings a few years ago a number of people chose to respond by painting their hands white, a symbol which <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&#8230;originated in Spain, when students in Madrid used it in 1996 as a sign of innocence and of their revulsion at the murder, by the ETA terrorist group, of Francisco Tom\u00e1s y Valiente\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>(source <a href=\"http:\/\/www.surinenglish.com\/noticias.php?Noticia=3651\">SUR in English<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rougerouge\/24663125\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/photos21.flickr.com\/24663125_e9aee5b141_m.jpg?resize=240%2C239\" width=\"240\" height=\"239\" alt=\"whyte hand\" align=\"left\" vspace=\"10\" hspace=\"10\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/a>Recent events in London inspired people on <a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\">Flickr<\/a> to combine this idea and photography, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/tags\/whitehands\/\">quite a collection of &#8220;white hand&#8221; photographs<\/a> have been generated over the last few days.  Many are fairly straightforward, but several are wonderfully creative (such as the one to the left).  The paper hands above belong to me and <a href=\"http:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/WeatherGirl\/\">WeatherGirl<\/a>.
