{"id":327,"date":"2006-03-17T21:43:25","date_gmt":"2006-03-18T02:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/Phi\/?p=327"},"modified":"2006-03-17T22:41:57","modified_gmt":"2006-03-18T03:41:57","slug":"our-nifty-wind-turbine-in-the-fog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/Phi\/archives\/2006\/03\/17\/our-nifty-wind-turbine-in-the-fog\/","title":{"rendered":"Our nifty wind turbine in the fog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nicmcphee\/113722594\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.flickr.com\/55\/113722594_d45fd1be1a.jpg?resize=400%2C300\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Turbine and abandoned cars (retinex)\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nLots of people have been taking photos of <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.umn.edu\/umnnews\/Feature_Stories\/New_wind_turbine_powers_Morris.html\">our nifty wind turbine<\/a> (or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.morris.umn.edu\/greencampus\/WindsOfChange.pdf\">a PDF fact sheet<\/a>), including some very cool sunset shots by biology prof <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrs.umn.edu\/academic\/biology\/gooch.html\">Van Gooch<\/a> that will be hanging up here in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrs.umn.edu\/academic\/science_math.html\">Science Building<\/a> sometime soon.<\/p>\n<p>We had a very cool fog last week, and when I dropped <a href=\"http:\/\/UnhinderedByTalent.com\/SubEvilBoy\/\">Sub-Evil Boy<\/a> off at school, the turbine was <em>just<\/em> peeking out through the top of the fog bank.  With <a href=\"http:\/\/UnhinderedbyTalent.com\/WeatherGirl\/\">WeatherGirl<\/a>&#8216;s encouragement, I grabbed the camera and dashed off to snag some shots, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nicmcphee\/archives\/date-taken\/2006\/03\/09\/\">several of which I&#8217;ve uploaded to Flickr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I never did get the image that first caught my eye because we just don&#8217;t have anything telephoto enough for that shot, and by the time I was closer I was down in the fog looking up at the turbine.  Yet another reason why we really need to get a digital SLR so I can buy fancy lenses again (<em>evil grin<\/em>).
