(So I&#8217;m vain, but too cheap to pay for the more expensive service.)  Most of the &#8220;alerts&#8221; are pretty uninteresting, but every now and then there&#8217;s a suprise.  Today, for example, I discovered via this mechanism that<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Someone had used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nicmcphee\/26367373\/\">the image above<\/a> of Budapest at night to illustrate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webseeings.org\/abwesenheitsnotiz\/\">a blog post about being away for a while<\/a>.  (The <a href=\"http:\/\/babelfish.altavista.com\/\">Babel Fish<\/a> translation of the german is pretty amusing:  &#8220;I am times away. The Mansenmann will surely contribute its song of the week on weekend, but I probably keep still until Tuesday the feet.&#8221;.)  It&#8217;s a minor bummer that they didn&#8217;t tell me (the ego stroke would be nice), but it&#8217;s still cool that they liked it enough to use it.<\/li>\n<li>More suprisingly, someone decided to use <a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/nicmcphee\/119466739\/\">the image below<\/a> from the Duomo in Milan on <a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Duomo_di_Milano?uselang=en#Interiors\">the Wikipedia page for that cathedral<\/a>.  There are quite a few images there of the cathedral, so it&#8217;s not <em>so<\/em> amazing, but still it&#8217;s pretty cool.  Again, there was no notification, but with the <a href=\"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/\">Creative Commons<\/a> license I&#8217;m using on Flickr that&#8217;s totally OK, and it&#8217;s nice that people are using them.  What are the odds that I&#8217;d ever appear in Encyclopedia Britannica, right?  So I&#8217;ll take what I can get and call it a good thing!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Woot!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/nicmcphee\/119466739\/\" title=\"Photo Sharing\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.flickr.com\/41\/119466739_9dcd238a7e.jpg?resize=372%2C500\" width=\"372\" height=\"500\" alt=\"A long journey\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Added a few minutes later:<\/em>  I searched for &#8220;Unhindered&#8221; on <a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/\">Wikipedia Commons<\/a>, and turned up two more images of mine (<a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Image:Textile-Spinning_room.jpg\">this<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/Image:Textile-Bundle_of_cotton_threads.jpg\">that<\/a>) in their images collection, both from the excellent Helmshore Mills Textile Museum (which we visited last wummer).
