I knew I would love this movie when the opening scene featured a glorious dance number in a Los Angeles traffic jam. So much joie de vivre. I definitely recommend seeing this on the big screen for the full impact.
Now off to rewatch, Singing in the Rain again(and again).

]]>Check out the group’s web page here. They are from Nova Scotia, Canada and their name refers to the expulsion of the Acadians from the Canadian maritime provinces in 1775. The music they played was reminiscent of a lot of other Celtic traditions and their step dancing left us breathless!

]]>The show has been pretty damn good, even if I do say so myself. My theme for the week has been: track two. Occasionally Phi has joined in too and played track two too, too, too, too, too. *Weeeeeeeeeeee*
The play list will be posted at our wiki when we’re done in 40 minutes.
]]>The programme she played was quite wide ranging in tone though did have a more modern feel to it. If she ever comes by your way she is definitely a must see.

Apparently someone in the audience at the ASA Talent Show caught part of Tom’s wondrous “Taco Man” performance on video (probably a video phone?). It’s only the second half, and there’s a fair amount of audience noise, but it still gives you a sense of the thing.
To read the full scoop check out Phi’s post.

]]>Sub Evil Boy was on form and worked the crowd well getting much laughter to the lyrics of his songs and encouraging many to join in the chorus with him. Sadly he was not named as one of the top three but we loved his performance and the crowd clearly enjoyed it too.
This year we thought the judges did a great job, they had a hard task to try and select a top three and I think the three they chose were worthy of recognition. (Last year’s winner was amazingly offensive and we quite stunned by their selection.)

]]>Sub Evil Boy sang two songs a cappella, Fat Fly, a song he wrote with his dad and Worms a traditional little ditty that he had heard on a Pogues CD.
A third place finish didn’t earn him any prize money but it did qualify him for the grand final that will be held Friday 8th July during Prairie Pionneer Days.
